Welcome to our FAQ page!
Here you’ll find answers to the questions we’re most often asked about our Bettas, delivery, and care.

🐟 1. Where are you based?

We’re a small, family-run hobby breeder based in South East London (BR3 area).
All our Bettas are home-bred, raised, and cared for here by Mr B and the family.

🚫 2. Do you ship fish by courier or post?

Not at the moment.
We currently offer collection only, and local delivery by hand within around 5 miles of BR3 (South East London) for a small fee (£5–£10 depending on distance).
This ensures the fish arrive safely and with as little stress as possible.

🚗 3. Can I collect my fish?

Absolutely — collection is preferred!
Once you’ve placed your order, we’ll contact you to arrange a collection time.
We’ll also give you a few simple tips for safe transport (such as keeping your fish warm and upright).

💰 4. How do I pay?

All payments are made securely through our website checkout or another agreed method (such as bank transfer if discussed in advance).
Payment must be received before collection or delivery.

💧 5. What’s your refund or replacement policy?

Because fish are live animals, we can’t accept returns or exchanges once they’ve left our care.
However, if a fish arrives unwell or deceased due to delivery (only applicable to local hand-delivery), please contact us within 2 hours with a clear photo or video, and we’ll review it right away.
Each case is handled individually and fairly.

🪸 6. What makes your Bettas different from shop-bought ones?

All our Bettas are home-bred and socialised — raised in a peaceful, mixed community tank with other calm fish like Corydoras catfish, snails, and females.
This means our males are better acclimatised and less aggressive than imported Bettas, which are often isolated early and can be more stressed.
Our Bettas are also used to real-life conditions — healthy, hardy, and full of personality!

🐠 7. Can I keep my Betta with other fish?

In general, male Bettas should live alone.
However, because of Mr B’s careful socialisation, our Bettas are often more tolerant than typical imports.
If you have a calm, community setup (no fin-nippers), they may co-exist peacefully — but always monitor closely and provide plenty of hiding places.
You can read more about this in our Betta Care Guide.

🌿 8. What setup do I need before bringing a Betta home?

We recommend:

  • At least 15 litres of heated, filtered water.

  • Temperature kept between 25–28 °C.

  • A lid (Bettas can jump!).

  • Leafy plants or soft decorations — they love resting and “sleeping” among them!
You can find full details in our Betta Care Guide.

🧡 9. Can I choose my exact fish?

Each Betta is unique, so colours and patterns will vary slightly from the photos shown.
The images in our shop are examples of the strain and quality you’ll receive.

If you’d like to hand-pick your fish, just send us a message after placing your order — we’re happy to share a few quick photos or videos of the available Bettas so you can choose your favourite.

📦 10. Do you offer wholesale or bulk orders?

We’re currently focusing on small hobby sales while we finalise our pet licence, but wholesale is coming soon!
If you’re a shop or breeder interested in future supply, please reach out — we’d love to stay in touch.

💬 11. How do I contact you?

You can reach us any time by email:
📧 rudysaquarium@gmail.com
or via our contact form on the website.
We’ll get back to you as soon as we can (usually within a day).

Thank you for supporting our small, family-run aquarium!
Every fish you bring home helps us continue raising healthy, happy Bettas — and share a bit of our love for these beautiful creatures with the world. 💙
